What was measured
Reaction of carnosine with lipid peroxidation products; lens transparency in dogs with senile cataract, in vitro and in vivo.

What the authors reported

The authors report that carnosine reacts directly with lipid peroxidation products and that antioxidant activity is one of its main biological roles. Carnosine partially restored lens transparency in dogs with senile cataract in both in vitro and in vivo experiments.

Limits of this study

Route, dose, dog numbers and duration are not stated in the abstract. Full text not read.
