What was measured
Solid-phase extraction (Isolute PRS) with reversed-phase gradient HPLC for carnosine, balenine, homocarnosine, histidine, 1-methylhistidine and 3-methylhistidine in horse and camel muscle and in single muscle fibres.

What the authors reported

The authors report recoveries of 91 to 115% and detection limits of 0.005 to 0.010 mmol/kg dry muscle, with all compounds separated in one 55-minute run. The abstract says the paper reports for the first time the content of these compounds in equine myocardium, diaphragm and skeletal muscle, in camel muscle and in single fibres from both species, but gives no values.
