Dose used in the study
oral and intravenous N-acetylcarnosine doses were given; amounts not in the abstract

What was measured
HPLC method for N-alpha-acetyl-L-carnosine in horse plasma after perchloric acid extraction and solid-phase clean-up; normal plasma values; application after oral and intravenous dosing.

What the authors reported

The author reports recovery of 93.9 to 99.7%, retention time about 5.9 minutes, a detection limit of 0.18 micromol/L and a normal plasma mean of 2.4 plus or minus 0.3 micromol/L in horses. The method was applied to samples after oral and intravenous dosing, but the abstract gives no dosing results.

Limits of this study

Method paper. Dosing results not in the abstract. The only equine dosing of a carnosine compound by mouth found in this search. Full text not read.
