- What was measured
- Binding of mouse monoclonal antibodies raised against rabbit muscle carnosine synthetase, and synthetase levels across tissues.
What the authors reported
Four IgG monoclonal antibodies bound carnosine synthetase activity from muscle of all mammals tested (mouse, rat, rabbit, cow, dog, monkey) but not chicken muscle. The immunoassay allowed relative tissue levels to be quantified: high in olfactory tissue of rat and rabbit, generally lower in muscle, brain, heart, liver and gut. Cross-reactivity across tissues of one species suggested similar epitopes.
