- What was measured
- Validated LC-ESI-MS/MS assay for Michael adducts of 4-hydroxynonenal with glutathione, carnosine and anserine in rat skeletal muscle homogenates exposed to oxidative stress.
What the authors reported
The assay quantified glutathione-HNE, carnosine-HNE and anserine-HNE adducts with validated precision and accuracy over 0.4 to 90 nmol/g tissue. Applied to rat muscle exposed to oxidative stress, the carnosine-HNE adduct was identified as an early, specific and stable marker of lipid peroxidation in excitable tissue.
Limits of this study
Analytical method paper using rat tissue homogenate. Abstract only.
